Angel Wicky

Away from the camera

Horses, books, cooking and quiet trails offer another view of Victoria Wicky’s life beyond her professional photographs.

Quiet places and open trails

In her 2015 conversation with Tribe Magazine, Wicky described riding a mountain bike on trails outside Prague. She preferred the countryside, away from traffic and buildings, and included running and swimming among the activities she enjoyed.

Her later FHM interview returned to the appeal of nature. She described spending time with her horse, taking walks and riding outdoors. Forests and the sea appealed to her, as did the simple pleasure of reading beneath a tree.

Books, music and making things

Reading has appeared repeatedly in her interviews. Early on, she mentioned educational and scientific publications, documentaries and stories drawn from real events. Learning and curiosity belonged to her leisure time as well as her preparation for work.

Her FHM interview added painting and do-it-yourself projects to that picture. Singing, dancing and listening to music were also ways she liked to relax. She described evenings that might include a book, a lecture or a podcast, alongside time with her kitten.

A place for cooking

Cooking and baking were already among the interests she discussed in 2014. Rather than naming one signature dish, she spoke about enjoying food and experimenting in the kitchen. These were activities she returned to between professional commitments.

In the FHM conversation, her imagined ordinary day included breakfast and coffee before visiting her horse, followed by lunch and work at the computer. Meals, animals and time outside gave that account its domestic rhythm, a quieter setting than the magazine shoots for which she became known.
